Els llibres on apareixen registrats els acords presos en les reunions del consell municipal representen una de les fonts històriques més importants entre les conservades als arxius municipals, ja que constitueixen l'eix de la vida administrativa del municipi. Amb la present edició, que vol tenir continuïtat en els propers anys, afegim a aquest grup els llibres conservats a l'Arxiu Municipal de Castelló, on la sèrie comença amb el volum corresponent a 1374-1375, i des d'aquesta data té una notable continuïtat, si bé no s'han conservat els llibres corresponents a tots els exercicis. El projecte té l'objectiu de publicar en successius volums els registres de consell de la vila de Castelló corresponents al període medieval. En aquest volum comença la sèrie amb els quatre primers llibres de consells conservats a l'Arxiu Municipal de Castelló, corresponents als exercicis de 1374-1375, 1378-1379, 1380-1381 i 1382-1383.
