The Best Method of Mastering the English Bible

James M. Gray

The Best Method of Mastering the English Bible contains a practical application of all that the author, Rev. James M. Gray, has said and taught. The interdenominational Bible classes which he has carried on, and to which his work directly and indirectly has given rise, are the largest and in other respects the most remarkable. The work of James M. Gray revolutionized the method of teaching in some Sunday schools; it has put life into dead prayer-meetings; in not a few instances it has materially helped to solve the problem of the second service on the Lord's day; it has been a boon to many pastors in the labors of study and pulpit, whose gratitude is outspoken; it has contributed to the efficiency of foreign missionary workers, whose testimony has come from the uttermost parts of the earth; and it has reacted beneficially on the instruction given in the English Bible in some of our home academies, smaller colleges and seminaries. The secret of these results is given in this book.

The Lives and Theories of Eminent Philosophers

Diogenes Laertius

Lives and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers is collection of biographies of the Greek philosophers by Diogenes Laërtius, written in Greek, probably in the first half of the third century AD. The book professes to give an account of the lives and sayings of the Greek philosophers. Laërtius treats his subject in two divisions which he describes as the Ionian and the Italian schools. The biographies of the former begin with Anaximander, and end with Clitomachus, Theophrastus and Chrysippus; the latter begins with Pythagoras, and ends with Epicurus. The Socratic school, with its various branches, is classed with the Ionic; while the Eleatics and sceptics are treated under the Italic. He also includes his own poetic verse, albeit pedestrian, about the philosophers he discusses.

The Great Bible Doctrines

William Evans J.

The doctrines treated in this book are dealt with from the standpoint of Biblical rather than Dogmatic theology. This is evident from the plan which is followed in the work, namely, to gather together all the Scripture passages dealing with the subject under consideration, and from them choose a required number that may be called representative; then seek to understand the meaning of these references by the study of the text itself as well as its context and parallel passages; and finally, from the selected proof-texts, formulate the doctrinal teaching, and place such results under appropriate headings. The doctrines of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are more fully dealt with than the doctrines which follow. This is especially true of the doctrine of God. The reason for this is to set forth the method pursued in these studies, and to give a pattern for the study of the doctrines to follow. (William Evans, The Great Doctrines of the Bible)

Memoirs of Mrs. Seacole

Mary Seacole

Wonderful Adventures of Mrs. Seacole in Many Lands (1857) is one of the earliest autobiographies of a mixed-race woman. In her autobiography, Seacole records her bloodline thus: «I am a Creole, and have good Scots blood coursing through my veins. My father was a soldier of an old Scottish family.» Legally, she was classified as a mulatto, a multiracial person with limited political rights. Seacole emphasises her personal vigour in her autobiography, distancing herself from the contemporary stereotype of the «lazy Creole», She was proud of her black ancestry, writing, «I have a few shades of deeper brown upon my skin which shows me related – and I am proud of the relationship – to those poor mortals whom you once held enslaved, and whose bodies America still owns.» She also became widely known and respected, particularly among the European military visitors to Jamaica who often stayed at Blundell Hall. She treated patients in the cholera epidemic of 1850, which killed some 32,000 Jamaicans. However, the erection of a statue of her at St Thomas' Hospital, London, on 30 June 2016, describing her as a «pioneer nurse», has generated controversy and opposition from supporters of Florence Nightingale. Earlier controversy broke out in the United Kingdom late in 2012 over reports of a proposal to add her to the UK's National Curriculum. Read about this inspiring woman in this meticulously edited edition by Musaicum Books which is formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices.

Soy la muchacha mala de la historia

Pedro Casusol

The Great Benjamin Franklin

Avneet Kumar Singla

This is a great non-fiction biography book describing the life of legendary Benjamin Franklin. This Non-Fiction biography book consists of 70000 words in approximate.Benjamin Franklin was a British-American polymath and one of the founding fathers of the United States. Franklin was a leading writer, printer, political philosopher, politician, Freemason, postmaster, scientist, inventor, Humourist, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat. As a scientist he was an important figure in the American Enlightenment and the history of physics for his discoveries and theories regarding electricity. He founded many civic organizations, including the Library Company, Philadelphia's first fire department, and the University of Pennsylvania.Franklin received the title «the first American» for his early and tireless campaigns for colonial unity, first as an author and speaker in London for several colonies. As the first U.S. Ambassador to France, he illustrated the emerging American nation. Franklin was fundamental in defining the American ethos as a combination of the practical values of thrift, hard work, education, community spirit, self-governing institutions, and opposition to political and religious authoritarianism with the scientific and tolerant values of the Enlightenment. In the words of historian Henry Steele Commager: «in a dream, the virtues of puritanism could be fused without its shortcomings, the Enlightenment of enlightenment without its warmth. For Walter Isaacson, Franklin is the most accomplished American of his time and the most influential when it comes to inventing the kind of society that would become America.»Franklin became a successful newspaper editor and printer in Philadelphia, the leading city in the colonies, and published the Pennsylvania Gazette at the age of 23. After 1767 he was associated with the Pennsylvania Chronicle, a newspaper known for its revolutionary sentiments and criticism of the policies of the British parliament and the crown. He was the first president of the Academy and College of Philadelphia, which opened in 1751 and later became the University of Pennsylvania. He organized and was the first secretary of the American Philosophical Society and was elected president in 1769. Franklin became a national hero in America as an agent for several colonies when he tried in London to have the Parliament of Great Britain repeal the unpopular Stamp Act. An accomplished diplomat, he was widely admired among the French as American Minister in Paris and was an important figure in the development of positive FrenchAmerican relations. His efforts proved decisive for the American Revolution in securing shipments of important ammunition from France. He was promoted to Deputy Postmaster for the British colonies on August 15, 1753, after serving for many years as postmaster of Philadelphia, and this enabled him to establish the first national communications network. He initially owned and traded slaves, but by the end of the 1750s he began to argue against slavery, became an abolitionist, and promoted education and the integration of blacks into American society.More than two centuries after his death, his life and legacy of scientific and political achievements, as well as his status as one of America's most influential Founding Fathers, have honoured Franklin with the fifty-cent piece, the $ 100 bill, warships, and the names of many cities, counties, educational institutions, and businesses, as well as numerous cultural references.Note :– We are offering this book at much discount as a promotional activity.

Memorias de cocina y bodega

Alfonso Reyes
