The Second Jungle Book
Rudyard Kipling's «The Second Jungle Book» is a classic collection of fables set predominately in the Indian jungle with animal characters used to teach moral lessons. A sequel to the popular 1894 work, «The Jungle Book», this volume includes five additional stories of one of Kipling's most famous characters, Mowgli, a 'man-cub' raised by wolves, as well as three unrelated stories. In «The Second Jungle Book» Kipling provides a set of entertaining stories which will enchant and educate readers both young and old.
Pollyanna

Rootabaga Stories
American author and poet Carl Sandburg (1878-1967), best known for the poetry that attributed to two of his three Pulitzer Prizes, also wrote histories, biographies, novels, and children's stories. Born in Illinois, Sandburg spent most of his life in the Midwest before moving to North Carolina in 1945, where he lived till his death. In the early 1920s Sandburg began writing children's stories for his three daughters, beginning with his «Rootabaga Stories», one of three collections of stories set in the small towns and farms of the American Midwest. The stories were widely read and enjoyed for their unique nonsensical style and distinctly American feeling. Sandburg wanted to create something different than the traditional European fairy tales, explaining that he was «tired of princes and princesses and I sought the American equivalent of elves and gnomes.» He certainly succeeded with «Rootabaga Stories». The beautifully nonsensical writing, illogical grammar, and fantastical settings set the stage for such memorable characters as the Potato Face Blind Man, Hatrack the Horse, and Red Slippers.
The Railway Children
"The Railway Children" are Roberta, Peter and Phyllis, three young children who move to a house near a railway when their father is wrongly accused and falsely imprisoned for selling government secrets to the Russians. The children pass the time by watching the railcars go by and waving to the passengers riding the train. Eventually they meet Perks, the station porter and an old gentleman that may be able to help get their father out of prison.

In this fantastical adventure Princess Irene and Curdie must overthrow a set of corrupt ministers who are poisoning Irene's father, the king. When Curdie meets Irene's mysterious Grandmother he is sent off on a quest with a strange dog-like creature named Lina, who was once human, to help save Irene's father. A classic tale of fantasy, «The Princess and Curdie» is one of George MacDonald's most perfect children's tales.
