Мы не можем построить теорию метафоры, основываясь лишь на слове; для того чтобы построить такую теорию, необходимо учитывать роль предиката, приписываемого субъекту, т. е. борьбу между субъектом и предикатом во фразе. Метафора рождается из конфликта, из той напряженности, которая возникает в результате соединения слов во фразе (Рикёр, 1995: 101–102).
