Por qué una noche estrellada de enero me animé a contar mi historia, no era una noche más, en ella se mezclaba mi vida pasada con esta apasionante historia de amor donde se mezclan los sentidos, las vivencias con la mujer más dulce que haya conocido, ella era un Ángel y un demonio a la vez, era la voz de mi pasado, la conciencia misma, la razón por la cual se entrecruzan experiencias vividas, con la razón de nuestro existir, ¿Por qué me enamoré tanto de esa mujer casi desconocida hasta ese momento? ¿Por qué ella con su impronta me marcó el camino para volver a mi pasado y desde allí empezar nuevamente desde cero? ¿Por qué esa casa era tan importante para mi?, todavía no lo sé pero seguramente lo iremos descubriendo en este libro.

Gente de tango
Este Tomo 2 continúa el desarrollo de las biografías de aquellos que a través de sus interpretaciones o sus producciones musicales engrandecieron el género musical que identifica en el Mundo a Buenos Aires en particular y a toda la Argentina en general. Siguen desfilando así en estricto orden alfabético directores, arregladores, ejecutantes, cantores, autores y compositores que supieron abrazar con pasión al tango y lo llevaron por todos los confines. La pretensión de la obra, una vez completados sus tres tomos, es cubrir del modo más amplio posible la historia de esta música, sistematizándola sobre la base de quienes dedicaron a ella sus mayores afanes. Como se expresó en la contratapa del tomo anterior, la nómina de artistas que encararon esta tarea es tan amplia que nunca sería posible incluir en este diccionario biográfico a todos ellos. De todos modos, la idea del autor es que el reconocimiento alcance al menos implícitamente a todos, y en especial a aquellos ignotos para el gran público porque sólo pudieron aportar esfuerzos muy humildes. Vuelve a transitarse entonces a partir de estas reseñas todo el siglo XX y la primera década del actual. Surgen así, como ya ocurriera en el tomo anterior dado el ordenamiento adoptado, ciento dos nuevos personajes cuyas vidas recrean en este tomo las épocas de la guardia vieja, la era decariana, la época de oro de los años cuarenta y cincuenta, las orquestas y los cantores de las décadas del sesenta y el setenta, y las dos últimas décadas del siglo pasado y la primera del actual, con su renovación musical que afortunadamente en la mayoría de los casos mantuvo la esencia y la mística que sustenta al tango.Queda solo ahora pendiente el Tomo III que cerrará las trescientas seis biografías objeto de este homenaje a la «Gente de Tango», cuya inmensa mayoría ya no está entre nosotros, pero perdura en el recuerdo y el afecto de quienes tienen «su corazón envuelto en tangos».

The Art of War 'es un antiguo tratado militar chino que data del siglo V aC y se atribuye al antiguo estratega militar chino Sun Tzu. El texto está compuesto por 13 capítulos, cada uno de los cuales está dedicado a un aspecto de la guerra y comúnmente se piensa que es un trabajo definitivo sobre estrategia y táctica militar. Fue colocado a la cabeza de los Siete Clásicos Militares de China tras la creación de la colección en 1080 por el Emperador Shenzong de Song, y ha sido durante mucho tiempo el texto de estrategia más influyente en el Este de Asia. Ha tenido una influencia en el pensamiento militar oriental y occidental, las tácticas comerciales, la estrategia legal y más allá.
Renaciendo al dolor
El dolor de sufrir una pérdida es lo que marca el inicio de un proceso de duelo. Cada pérdida es única y solo la puede sentir y calificar quien siente lo que perdió. Pero hay algo común en todas las pérdidas: la importancia de sanarlas y trascenderlas para poder seguir adelante y fortalecidos. Y la única forma es haciendo un duelo consciente. ¿Cómo se hace un duelo consciente? Responder esta pregunta es el propósito del libro.Si bien es cierto que hay pérdidas para las cuales estamos más «preparados» debido al orden natural como, por ejemplo, perder a nuestros abuelos o a nuestros padres, lo que he aprendido es que cada dolor es único e incomparable. Y que por ello es tan válido hacer el duelo por un hijo (el caso más extremo, al ser considerado «contra natura») como hacerlo por una relación, una mascota, un trabajo o por nuestra salud.Es por lo anterior que si bien lo que me motivó a compartir mi experiencia con el duelo fue la muerte de mi hija Elisa, durante el proceso entendí que un duelo es necesario cada vez que se sienta dolor por perder a alguien o algo; que hay múltiples fuentes de dolor y que cada quien lo vive de manera diferente.Más allá de las definiciones y catalogaciones, mi intención es compartir los aprendizajes que la vivencia consciente de este proceso ha dejado en mi vida y transmitir el mensaje de que si nos permitimos atravesar el dolor, el proceso puede resultar en nuestro renacimiento.
Parches del alma
"Parches del alma" nace después de años de mucho dolor y resilencia que tuve que atravesar, luego de una gran búsqueda que realicé para sanar mi alma. Decido contarte mi historia para animar a otras niñas, adolescente y mujeres, todas, a no emparchar sus heridas y por medio de mi experiencia puedan soltar todo dolor que tengan guardado, ya que si no lo sanamos esto se transforma en enfermedades tanto físicas como mentales, revelándoles de esta manera que su gran aflicción es un parche en el alma.

An intimate and original look at the lives of Nevada’s legal sex workers through the voices of current and former employees, brothel owners, madams, and local law enforcement The state of Nevada is the only jurisdiction in the United States where prostitution is legal. Wrapped in moral judgments about sexual conduct and shrouded in titillating intrigue, stories about Nevada’s legal brothels regularly steal headlines. The stigma and secrecy pervading sex work contribute to experiences of oppression and unfair labor practices for many legal prostitutes in Nevada. Sex and Stigma engages with stories of women living and working in these “hidden” organizations to interrogate issues related to labor rights, secrecy, privacy, and discrimination in the current legal brothel system. Including interviews with current and former legal sex workers, brothel owners, madams, local police, and others, Sex and Stigma examines how widespread beliefs about the immorality of selling sexual services have influenced the history and laws of legal brothel prostitution. With unique access to a difficult-to-reach population, the authors privilege the voices of brothel workers throughout the book as they reflect on their struggles to engage in their communities, conduct business, maintain personal relationships, and transition out of the industry. Further, the authors examine how these brothels operate like other kinds of legal entities, and how individuals contend with balancing work and non-work commitments, navigate work place cultures, and handle managerial relationships. Sex and Stigma serves as a resource on the policies guiding legal prostitution in Nevada and provides an intimate look at the lived experiences of women performing sex work.
The Color of Kink
Winner of the MLA's 2016 Alan Bray Prize for Best Book in GLBTQ Studies How BDSM can be used as a metaphor for black female sexuality. The Color of Kink explores black women's representations and performances within American pornography and BDSM (bondage and discipline, domination and submission, and sadism and masochism) from the 1930s to the present, revealing the ways in which they illustrate a complex and contradictory negotiation of pain, pleasure, and power for black women. Based on personal interviews conducted with pornography performers, producers, and professional dominatrices, visual and textual analysis, and extensive archival research, Ariane Cruz reveals BDSM and pornography as critical sites from which to rethink the formative links between Black female sexuality and violence. She explores how violence becomes not just a vehicle of pleasure but also a mode of accessing and contesting power. Drawing on feminist and queer theory, critical race theory, and media studies, Cruz argues that BDSM is a productive space from which to consider the complexity and diverseness of black women's sexual practice and the mutability of black female sexuality.
