Michael Meyen erzählt in diesem Buch drei Geschichten: die Geschichte der Journalistenausbildung in der DDR, die Geschichte der Kommunikationswissenschaft in der westlichen Welt und seine eigene Geschichte, die eng mit den ersten beiden Geschichten zusammenhängt. Der Autor ist 1988 nach Leipzig gekommen, um Parteijournalist zu werden, und hat erlebt, wie erst der Staat verschwand, in dem er aufgewachsen ist, dann die Sektion Journalistik und schließlich auch jede Erinnerung an die Menschen, die dort gelehrt haben. Damit ist zugleich ein Paradigma entsorgt worden, das Forschung und Berufspraxis verbunden hat und deshalb eine Antwort auf die Medienkrise der Gegenwart liefern könnte.

Antiespecista
¿Qué derecho tiene el hombre de considerarse a sí mismo un animal superior, y de «usar» de los demás animales? ¿Acaso por tener inteligencia puede considerarse de mayor dignidad que un toro, uno mono o un perro?
El antiespecismo da voz a la liberación de los animales, exigiendo que se prohíban los alimentos y demás productos de origen animal, y aquellas prácticas que consideran opresivas como la equitación, la caza, los toros o los zoológicos. Según su ideología, podría defenderse que un chimpancé sano goce de mayor protección que un ser humano con discapacidad mental.
Esta corriente tiene teóricos influyentes como Peter Singer y cuenta con el apoyo político-mediático de algunos partidos animalistas. ¿Cuánta verdad hay en lo que defienden? ¿Hemos de impedir que los animales sufran en todos los casos, otorgándoles derechos fundamentales similares a los humanos? ¿Qué modelo de sociedad origina esta ideología? ¿Hay cosas que realmente deben cambiar?

The Practice and Theory of Bolshevism is a work by Bertrand Russell dealing with the situation in Russia within a few years after the revolution and essential aspects of Bolshevik theory. The book is an excellent review of Communism in the early days of the Soviet Union. Russell is adherent to the communist idea, but points out some practical faults, which will be proven accurate in following years, leading to inevitable failure of the system.
