Descending from the heavenly sphere of the gods to the mortal world below, Arcturus raises a mighty storm. For Labrax, a ‘procurer’ of women, the storm brings shipwreck and ruin. They are forced to rely instead on the help of the elderly Daemones, who is already struggling to control his reluctant slaves: the impudent Sceparnio and the inept Gripus.Drawn from a lost Greek play, The Storm is the most popular of Plautus’ Roman comedies. This version opened at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in July 2005 as part of the ‘World and Underworld’ Season.
The Siege
An epic play in two acts, The Siege was commissioned by the National Playwright Commissioning Group and written especially for performance in schools.It tells the story of the Swados family, citizens of Arden, a town under siege. Working in collaboration with teenagers from schools across the UK, Adrian Mitchell has created a vibrant and topical text which speaks with the voices of young people. The expertise and talent of thousands has been shared under the guidance of a leading playwright and the internationally famous composer, Andrew Dickson.

Olga's Room

Based on real events of the 1930s-40s focusing on Benario's time in Brazil and Germany, this gripping play was the first work by one of Europe's foremost contemporary dramatists, Dea Loher, and was originally performed in 1992. After their highly successful run in Luxembourg City, Speaking in Tongues bring the English-language world premiere to London.

The Lady from the Sea
The Lady From The Sea (1888) marked a turning-point in Ibsen’s writing career as it, and the plays that followed it, concerned itself more with individual destinies than with general moral or social principles. In this new translation, Pam Gems (best known for plays such as Piaf, Stanley, Camille and Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi) gives this classic drama a refreshing new life. The Lady From The Sea was performed at the Almeida Theatre, 8th May 2003.
