      Satire is not exclusive to any viewpoint, i.e., there are left-wing satirists who lambaste right-wingers and vice versa.

      A “lampoon” is a light, good-humored satire and a written attack ridiculing a person, group, or institution.

      Depending on the dictionary you use, “spoof” has pretty much the same definition as lampoon: a gentle satirical imitation; a light parody.

      This Is Spinal Tap, labeled by its creators as a mockumentary, is a parody of rock groups. Airplane is a parody of ‘70s disaster films. The Naked Gun series is a parody of detective and cop shows. Scary Movie was a parody of dead teenager slasher movies. Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood was a parody of overly serious black films. Remember all of the music video parodies by Weird Al Yankovic?

      You get it.

      What about “farce”? The quick and dirty definition is “a comedy characterized by broad satire and improbable situations.”

      The more expansive definition of farce: a dramatic genre usually regarded as a subclass of comedy, with emphasis on plot complications and few or no intellectual pretensions. Farce aims to entertain by means of unlikely, extravagant, and improbable situations, disguise and mistaken identity, verbal humor of varying degrees of sophistication, which may include sexual innuendo and word play, and a fast-paced plot whose speed usually increases, culminating in an ending that often involves an elaborate chase scene.

      Lots of words, but it's a thorough definition. Think of most of the Farrelly brothers' movies as farces.
