      This collection of poetry that rests before your eyes span from

      the curious, and often times prideful age of 18, to the more

      wisdom-filled and humble age of 29. I have been privileged to

      obtain a particular gift and love for writing since my childhood

      and it is an honor to share my inner thoughts, emotions, and

      experiences with the world; particularly you, my friend.

      By the grace of God, there was no better time for me to have

      written this book. I had been prompted by Him to gather my

      poetry over the last decade and categorize them into three of my

      most dynamic living experiences: Life, Love, and God. I have

      found that there is no greater cluster of impactful words within

      our daily vocabulary than these three. I am truly grateful for

      this gift of writing and I anticipate all that God has in store for

      me…especially with this treasure of poetry.

      May this first volume become timeless food for your soul…

       LIFE…

      An older gentleman once asked, “What qualifies you as a bestselling author at such a young age? How can you write about life when you're still in your twenties?” I answered him with confidence, “Life is merely a dash that starts at birth and ends at death. The dash represents a span of time that is compiled of events, seasons, occasions, decisions, actions, reactions, memories, sunshine, and rain. My dash is twenty-nine years long.” The gentleman stood with a smirk, yielding to reply. “Well,” he said, “if you can write a book, I can too. Would you help me to write mine?” After agreeing to his request, I realized that every life has a story. Every person has their own account to retell. My age compared to others may differ by many years; nevertheless I refuse to let anyone look down on me because I am young. I am determined to set an example for others in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity. I have two stories to share; an old life and a new one. May both lifestyles inspire you to become a better person, in which you may recognize the old and the new person that lives within you also.

       THE DASH

      Finally you're born; created by a man and a woman

      They are your parents - Hopefully they share a special bond

      And that is marriage

      There is a lot to learn about life and challenging situations

      There will be negative and positive problems

      That you will soon be facing

      Tell all your loved ones how you feel

      No one is promised tomorrow and that's for real

      Live by faith, walk with wisdom, and love what you do
