The Childhood of Theodore Roosevelt
Edward L. Stratemeyer (1862-1930) was an American publisher and writer of children's fiction. He was one of the most prolific writers in the world, and a founder of the Stratemeyer Literary Syndicate, where he hired journalists to write stories based on his ideas. Stratemeyer created many well-known fictional book series for juveniles, including The Rover Boys, The Hardy Boys, and Nancy Drew series. Mr. Pickwick's Christmas tells about the Pickwickian's adventures at the Manor Farm during winter holidays. A good-humored Christmas chapter, containing an account of a wedding, and some other sports beside, which although in their way, even as good customs as marriage itself, are not quite so religiously kept up, in these degenerate times. It also contains the story of the Goblins who stole a Sexton and tale on how the Pickwickians made and cultivated the acquaintance of a couple of nice young men belonging to one of the liberal professions; how they disported themselves on the ice; and how their visit came to a conclusion.
Child Royal (Historical Novel)
Child Royal is a historical novel by D. K. Broster. She was an influential English novelist and short-story writer. Her fiction consists mainly of historical romances set in the 18th or early 19th centuries. During the First World War she served as a Red Cross nurse with a voluntary Franco-American hospital, but she returned to England with a knee infection in 1916. After the war, she and a friend, Gertrude Schlich, moved near to Battle, East Sussex, where Broster worked full-time as a writer. She was in the first batch of women to receive her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in 1920 at Oxford.
