Dear Denk Nach!
Fully appreciate and understand your point. What we are talking about is a bit unconventional.
Arguably, coming to Russia’s market might be considered unconventional in itself. It’s different from mature and well established market of EndLand. So, doing unconventional thing might require being flexible, unless we deiced otherwise.
Talked to Yon regarding the test. He told me that only after test he realized that Sibelius is a composer and Mannerheim is a military general. He confused one against the other in the test, and there were many questions regarding both.
Well, if this is the reason for poor scoring… Of cause, confusion of two prominent figures in Finish historic context is regrettable… BUT arguably that’s hardly fatal for all of us. At the end of the day we’re in industrial Factory’s business, not in fine arts or museums.
I believe it might be a good idea that you meet him, and we discuss then. It’s of much appreciation if you could kindly endorse his rendezvous ASAP. We begin to run out of time.
He’s just applied to renew visa. It’s expected to be issued by February 8. Would it be possible that you see him in St. Peter? It might buy us some time.. Any plans to come here soon?
I believe that his experience of opening dozen of Factories for Advancing Desire will immensely help us.
Advancing Desire’s stores used to be the benchmark in terms of quality of openings and quality of store maintenance. Yon’s one of those who’s behind this success story… He’s got a passion for details on shop floor level… it’s a rare quality and skill in the market…
Yes, people with passion for shop floor operations are rare. Those who talk smoothly (including in English) are much more available. To TALK THE TALK and to WALK the TALK are distinctly different things. «Talkers’ tend to end up with unresolved issues on the shop floor and with customer service… because it might seem to be ’too mundane and too boring’. Running a Factory at the end of the day is a very down to earth function. You really need to have a «gene» for it! If you don’t like it, you hate it. It’s hate/love story. It’s black and/or white. There’s nothing in between.
My last visits to Triangle shocked me on many accounts… assortment, prices. Level of in-store execution was far below local competitors. I would guess that a top-manager in charge of Operations in Triangle is perfectly fluent in English and might even distinguish clearly nuances of Sibelius’s genius)) … yet Triangle’s Factory looked… unattractive… I would consider risky to follow Triangle’s footsteps. Our plans are much more ambitious.
Few words about Eldis…
He’s certainly a good guy, yet we need somebody fully operational immediately. As one Russian saying put it: «Nice person is not a profession» :-))
Currently many pages with description of business process are generalist in nature or are plainly blank (for example, there’s nothing regarding own production). Ops Dir is to fill the void. Detailed manuals, processes’ descriptions and timetables are to be provided.
I do no believe Eldis is up to all this. He was last time in Russia 3 years ago as a tourist. He’s not aware of Russia’s specifics. With all due respect, he can’t bring the experience we need. He certainly will learn all the necessary specifics and will acquire all the required skills… yet we don’t have a luxury of time. There’s no time for learning, there’s only time for doing… NOW (!) … if we’re to open first store in Russia in December this year.
This is why we need somebody with a strong experience in Russia’s food industry. This is why Yon’s experience of lunching couple of dozens of Factories might be a precious resource for us.
Triangle’s sad example keeps popping in my mind. Our fellow EndLand’s colleagues display staggering example of monumental failure in St. Pete, while in EndLand Triangle is a prominent success story…
So, let’s talk this thru…
Best regards,
Er=oy
Дорогой Денк Нах!

Чехов говорил о своих рассказах, что они «короче воробьиного носа».
