Susan Brownell Anthony (1820 – 1906) was an American social reformer and women's rights activist who played a pivotal role in the women's suffrage movement. Born into a Quaker family committed to social equality, she collected anti-slavery petitions at the age of 17. In 1856, she became the New York state agent for the American Anti-Slavery Society. Anthony traveled extensively in support of women's suffrage, giving as many as 75 to 100 speeches per year and working on many state campaigns. She worked internationally for women's rights, playing a key role in creating the International Council of Women, which is still active. She also helped to bring about the World's Congress of Representative Women at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893.

El Ecuador es un país rico, sin embargo, los recursos del petróleo no son administrados con miras a la estabilidad y el bienestar de sus ciudadanos a largo plazo. La política económica es procíclica, lo cual significa que cuando las divisas del petróleo ingresan, son gastadas enseguida. El libro argumenta que las divisas del petróleo no son ingresos para el presupuesto y que los verdaderos déficits fiscales son más grandes de lo que las cifras del presupuesto sugieren. También explora los gastos del capital y los prospectos del sistema del Seguro Social. Al final, todos los indicadores fiscales deben reflejarse en el balance contable del sector público, para evaluar la posición y la dinámica del patrimonio neto del sector público. Así podemos ver que se sigue consumiendo la riqueza petrolera del Ecuador. El libro pregunta por qué sucede esto y sugiere lo que se puede hacer al respecto. El libro recomienda una política para los próximos 80 años, que coincide con la esperanza de vida de los ciudadanos ecuatorianos recién nacidos, porque las nuevas generaciones tendrán que pagar las cuentas que dejamos pendientes.
