Rita de Monte wurde als Einzelkind in eine Familie mit einem kühlen und strengen Vater und einer psychotischen Mutter hineingeboren.
Sie erzählt von sexuellem Mißbrauch, drei gescheiterten Ehen und dem Selbstmord ihres Vaters, während ihre Mutter bereits im Sterben liegt. Vollkommen überfordert, erleidet sie einen Zusammenbruch und es wird eine posttraumatische Belastungsstörung diagnostiziert. Da sie nicht mehr belastbar ist, muss sie aus ihrem Beruf in einer Tierklinik ausscheiden. Es folgen weitere gesundheitliche Probleme wie eine schwere Lungenembolie und ein bösartiger Nierentumor. Doch sie gibt nicht auf und steigt wie Phönix aus der Asche.
Inzwischen arbeitet sie als selbständige Lebens- beraterin und Autorin und hilft anderen Menschen aus deren persönlicher Krise. Kraft tankt sie in ihrem kleinen Holzhaus, am Rande eines Naturschutzgebietes, in welchem sie mit ihren Tieren lebt.

В настоящем издании впервые полностью публикуются воспоминания барона Андрея Ивановича Дельвига (1813–1887), инженер-генерала, технического руководителя и организатора строительства многих крупных инженерных сооружений на территории Российской империи. Его воспоминания – это обстоятельный и непредвзятый рассказ о жизни русского общества, в основном столичного и провинциального служилого дворянства, в 1810–1870-х годах. Отечественная война, Заграничный поход, декабрьское восстание 1825 года вошли в жизнь А. И. Дельвига лишь отголосками, но участники этих событий жили и действовали рядом с автором воспоминаний. Юность А. И. Дельвига пришлась на пушкинскую пору, время расцвета русской поэзии; благодаря родственным связям с поэтом Антоном Дельвигом будущий инженер-путеец встречался с А. С. Пушкиным, Е. А. Баратынским, Ф. Н. Глинкой, Н. И. Гнедичем, И. И. Дмитриевым, Д. В. Веневитиновым, П. А. Плетневым, В. Ф. Одоевским, братьями Бестужевыми и Раевскими, А. Ф. Воейковым. А. И. Дельвиг – представитель плеяды блестящих русских инженеров. Благодаря в том числе и его энергии, уму и таланту развивалась одна из самых важных и нужных государству отраслей – строительство шоссейных и железных дорог, мостов и водоканалов. Первый из четырех томов воспоминаний А. И. Дельвига охватывает период 1813–1842 годов. Книга предназначена для историков-профессионалов, студентов, любителей российской истории.
