Es sind erschütternde Erzählungen, die offenlegen, in welchem Ausmaß auch erwachsene Frauen in der katholischen Kirche von Missbrauch betroffen sind. Einige brechen hier zum ersten Mal ihr jahrelanges Schweigen, andere haben sich bereits an Bistümer und Orden gewandt, um Aufklärung zu erreichen. Den Missbrauch beim Namen zu nennen ist Widerstand gegen die Taten und Widerstand gegen das Vertuschen. Ausgehend von diesen Erzählungen thematisieren theologische Essays die Hintergründe des Missbrauchs. Zudem enthält das Buch Hinweise zum Gespräch und weiterführende Adressen für Betroffene. Damit ist es ein wichtiger Beitrag zur Aufarbeitung und Prävention von spirituellem und sexuellem Missbrauch in der Kirche – insbesondere mit Blick auf eine Betroffenengruppe, die bislang kaum zu Wort kam: erwachsene Frauen.
