Die Bergwerke zu Falun. Der Artushof. Erzählungen
Beide Erzählungen haben die Künstlerexistenz zum Thema, sind aber gegenbildlich erzählt: Während Elis, dem schöpferisch Denkenden, dem «Künstler ohne Werk», in den Bergwerken zu Falun der Weg in ein bürgerliches Leben versperrt ist, kann der Maler Traugott im Artushof am Ende Kunst und Leben glücklich verbinden. Hoffmann hat die Erzählungen in den ersten, 1819 erschienenen Band seines Zyklus «Die Serapions-Brüder» aufgenommen, Die Bergwerke zu Falun hat er eigens dafür verfasst. The Nutcracker and the Mouse-King

In seinem 1816/17 veröffentlichten zweibändigen Zyklus mit dem bezeichnenden Titel «Nachtstücke» versammelt E. T. A.
