Katarina is six years old. She has been caught telling a few tales that aren't true. She tells her parents about animals in her closet and monsters under the bed so that she can spend the night in her parents room and some of them were real whoppers. Katarina didn't seem to be overly frightened when she told these stories so her parents begin to suspect. They have a discussion with Katarina and discover that she wasn't telling them the truth. They spoke to her about telling tales and what it could mean and Katarina promised to try to tell the truth. Katarina goes outside to play one afternoon and sees a monkey peeking at her from a tree. She isn't sure that's what she saw until she creeps a little closer. Sure enough the monkey chatters at her and begins to climb down from the tree. Katarina is a little frightened and runs back into the house to tell her parents. When she explains that she's seen a monkey, no one believes her. How will she make her parents realize that she's telling the truth? Together she and Jack come up with a plan to catch the little monkey and show her parents she's been telling the truth all along.
Christine Crocodile is always looking for food for her hungry family, but she can't move very fast on land. She decides to ask her neighbor, Bixby for advice and maybe a little help because she is tired of eating fish for every meal. Bixby likes a good practical joke as well as anyone especially the hyenas and he decides to play a trick on Christine. Monarch the leader of the butterflies decide to team up to help him with his fear and find out that there is room for all to enjoy the nectar of the butterfly bush.
Billy has always lives a hard life with her mother. She has been doing chores and errands since she was seven, because she wants to help her mother. She goes to school and waters her neighbor's small urban garden for a few dollars when she goes home. Billy doesn't have friends because she is just too busy to have fun. She is afraid that if she does have friends, they will just hate her for always leaving them to do chores or errands. One day, as she was watering her neighbor's plants, a small creature jumps inside her pocket. When Billy sees the little creature, she takes care of it. The creature becomes a monster that lives inside her closet.
Allie Elephant is a happy three-year-old elephant. She is happy being an only child and feels sorry for all her animal friends who have brothers and sisters. She spends a lot of time with her friends, Lana Lion and Kingsly Monkey. Allie thinks they have it bad because they have to share their parents with other brothers and sisters. Lana even has 5 siblings and Allie cannot understand why Lana has to often help her parents with house chores. A lot of excitement builds up surrounding her beloved mother, who has to go away for a while. Allie wonders what is happening. With big fanfare, her mother returns complete with Edgar, Allie's new baby brother. Allie then has to overcome her disappointment and comes to love her new baby brother.
Mike is an ordinary schoolkid from California. At 13 years old he's interested in Video Games, Football, and does ok in his school work at the same time. Mike and his class of around 20 students and their teacher Mrs. Jameson are camping out around Monument Valley on a guided tour. Their tour guide Nakai, is of Native American descent, and on their first day takes them around a walking trail through the mesas of the desert.
Travis enjoys his nightly chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese. When he sits down at the dinner table one night, he finds that his favorite foods are not on his plate. Instead, there are things he never has tried before and he isn't very happy about this at all. Looking around, he tries to barter with his siblings so he doesn't have to try something new.

On her way home from school, Cassie sees that someone posted a sign that says that they're looking for a lost parrot. The parrot's original owners said that they would give seven hundred dollars to the person who found it. Cassie tries to get her friends Jane and Anna to help her find the parrot. Anna thinks they shouldn't take the parrot back to the owners since she knows the owners don't treat the parrot well. Jane thinks they should return the parrot and split the money three ways evenly. Cassie isn't sure what to do about the parrot. Will she and her friends find the parrot? Will they return it to its owners? Will arguing about what to do with the parrot hurt their friendship?
Steve is on a round the world sailing trip with his family in their sail yacht. Steve comes from an unconventional family. His parents like to teach the children alternative ways of living, and focus more on experience building than a regular education. Steve is with his two younger sisters and two adult parents. As we progress, Steve meets two separate tribes on the island.
