Based on forty years of clinical practice, Julian Barker formulates a number of interlocking ideas that integrate circadian physiology with the transformations that constitute human life. Taking knowledge, information, and data from various disciplines, he presents an integrative model of health, linking circadian biology with the psychosocial human being. He develops a theory that attempts to explain how medicinal plants modify human physiology and how they contribute to health. Aimed at the student acquiring knowledge and developing the skills to practise medicine as well as the qualified herbal practitioner, this thought-provoking work breaks new ground in health theory.

Our life can be viewed as three stages. In the first, we are told what to do and when to do it by our parents and teachers. In the second, our employers give us directions, usually with set working hours. In the third stage, when we retire, what we do with our time and lives is something we must decide. The transition into retirement, with seemingly endless options, can be challenging. Most books on retirement concentrate on the financial aspects of retirement. This is book does not. This is a workbook crafted to help you plan your own life after work: both long-term and day-to-day. It does not tell you what to do; it provides you with the tools to create your own action plan. The book leads you and your partner through a series of exercises designed to help you understand and focus on what is important to you, and make the decisions which will help give your retirement years a structure. The book includes a access to a kit of forms and exercises; a workbook for planning your retirement.
Comfortable Chaos is the first book that accepts the pace of modern living and helps readers come to their own life balance. This book recognizes that life today will never be free of stress and that everyone has his or her own level of tolerance for chaos.
WHAT IS COMPULSIVE EATING? Compulsive eating is just one type of addictive behavior. Alcoholism, drug abuse, smoking, and caffeine use are other common additions. Both psychological and chemical factors contribute to them. Using these substances triggers a physical desire for more, and overuse leads to physical dependency.
Some compulsive behaviors have a psychological basis only. For example, compulsive spenders buy on impulse and cannot save their money. Compulsive gamblers don't stop when they run out of money; they may steal to continue. Compulsive cleaners become upset by any disarray and spend hours keeping everything in order. Compulsive savers never throw anything out. Both psychological and chemical factors contribute to compulsive eating behavior. When you eat some chocolate, caffeine, or sugar your body needs more. Sugar and carbohydrates elevate your blood sugar level; when that level drops, your body needs more to elevate it again. However, despite the chemical factors that complicate compulsive eating, this behavior is primarily a psychological problem. Compulsive eating is any eating done in response to your mind instead of your body. Your body will respond to hunger and internal cues, but when you eat beyond the point of satisfaction, it is your mind that keeps you going. When the contributing psychological factors are very strong, even the knowledge that a certain food is harmful may not be enough to prevent your eating. Since total abstinence from food is impossible, compulsive eating is the most difficult addiction to overcome.
“Valuable information about what many of us have been questioning for years, but perhaps were afraid to ask. Politically correct has no place in Penis Envy but rather raw principles to age old concerns about behavior.” – Dr. Debra Laino DHS, MS, Sex Therapist/Sex Educator
“Holy cow! This book is hilarious and so real! My husband has Penis Envy for sure after reading this book!.” – Cheryl T.
“I couldn’t put this book down… only when I wiped the tears from my eyes because I laughed so hard!” – Sal Salvador, Incon Creative Solutions.
What in the world is penis envy? Good question. Penis Envy is inspired from the work of Sigmund Freud and the reason women are envious of men. In this book, the authors flipped it around and showed today’s reality of how it applies more to the envy many men have toward one another. So what happens when a man has penis envy?
This book explains many of the quirks, idiosyncrasies, bizarre and ridiculous lifestyles many adult men lead today. And women want answers!
Penis Envy will help shed light on some of life’s more perplexing questions:
• Why do so many adult men still live at home with their parents? • Why are some adult men attached to mom at the hip, unable to let go? • Why do some men feel the need to ‘stuff’ themselves? • Why do some men wear clothes and bathing suits that are way too tight? • Why do some men dress like women – metrosexuals? • Why are some men so proud of their large beer bellies and breasts? • Can a guy be more in love with his truck or favorite team than his partner?
Penis Envy will try to answer these questions and more. In the end, it will answer… Does size really matter?
Are you hungry to grow in a new direction that you would love to go? You are not alone. The Hunger to Grow dismisses the idea that we grow only through our work and our working years. It’s time to retire the word “retired”. Now it’s, “What’s for dessert? I’m still hungry!” Our dessert years begin when we start thinking about what we want in the second half of our lives. What we used to call a midlife crisis is just the realisation that we want to turn the rest of our lives into the ‘yummy years’, to allow our true passions to flow in search of new possibilities, new directions and new challenges. Now in his seventies Peter Nicholls, Australia's People Gardener, is living proof of this book's powerful message. The Hunger to Grow will guide you through the transition from doing what you have to do to doing what you love to do. It will put you in the driver’s seat of your future, empowering you to travel along the road of life your heart wants you to take. The Hunger to Grow is the book of your future.
