Friedrich Schiller – Über den Gebrauch des Chors in der Tragödie + Die Braut von Messina
Mit dem dem Drama vorangestellten Text «Über den Gebrauch des Chors in der Tragödie» wollte Schiller einen Leitfaden an die Hand geben, wie laut seiner Theorie der Chor zur Vollendung des Dramas mit in das Geschehen eingebunden werden muss. Um es aber nicht bei der reinen Dramen- bzw. Chortheorie zu belassen, entwarf Schiller die tatsächliche Umsetzung seiner Gedanken und Vorstellungen gleich mit. In der «Braut von Messina» zeigt Schiller sein idealtypisches Verständnis von der Verwendung des Chors als dramatisches Mittel der Verstärkung von Illusion und somit der Wirkung der Tragödie auf das Publikum.
Das Lied von der Glocke
Mit dem Lied von der Glocke, oft auch einfach nur «Glocke» genannt, legt Schiller ein ganzes Gesellschaftsbild vor. Es ist auch ein Loblied auf das bürgerliche Leben und auf die Harmonie von Natur und Kultur. Das Lied von der Glocke gehört zu den bedeutendsten und bekanntesten deutschen Gedichten.
Der Verbrecher aus verlorener Ehre
Ein Wirtssohn gerät durch eigenes Handeln sowie die Verständnislosigkeit seiner Umwelt immer tiefer in die Kriminalität. Als ihn die Reue erfasst, muss er bemerken, dass ihm die Wege zur Sühne endgültig verschlossen sind. – Dieser «Kriminalbericht» von Schiller trägt den Untertitel «Eine wahre Geschichte».
Die Bürgschaft
Die Ballade 'Die Bürgschaft' ist im Sommer 1798 entstanden und wurde ein Jahr später im Musenalmanach veröffentlicht. Zentraler Gedanke des Textes ist der unerschütterliche Glaube an die Freundschaft.
